Weird Habits (What's yours?)

1. I eat bread from the outer corners in a rotary manner. This way, I will get rid of their crust first. This method applies to burgers too.

2. I always tuck my blanket under my head when I sleep so my head doesn't touch the pillow. I also tuck it under my feet so they won't get cold.

3. I pee before I bathe and before I sleep.

4. I cook with a spoon instead of the usual frying ladle.

5. I finger-comb my hair every morning to check for broken strands.

6. I run my tongue through my teeth after brushing to make sure all of them are really clean.

7. I never take plastic bags when I buy things unless there's alot of stuff bought.

8. I only eat yellow, red and brown M&M's.

9. I tear paper into tiny pieces instead of crush them before throwing them into the bin. It makes me think I'll save more garbage space.

10. Whenever I have a cut, I like to squeeze my blood out until it forms a bubble.

11. I like to squint my eyes on expressways at night so I only see tiny dots of lamp lights. That has always been fascinating to me.

12. It always has to be popcorn and coke during movies. Any other drink spoils my mood because they don't complement the popcorn well.

13. I can't write properly when the paper is straight but I can write perfectly well when the paper is rotated 90 degrees.

14. I like to look at old people's faces and observe their wrinkles and creases.

15. Whenever someone sits beside me in trains/buses, I tend to judge them by their perfume/cologne.

16. I avoid drains when I run outside because I hate the sound it makes and I'm afraid I'll fall into it.

17. I hang dry laundry on the bamboo pole without using any clothes peg.

18. I never stir my tao huay when I eat it. I eat it slice by slice which means I hardly touch the sugar syrup at the bottom. I cannot stand the sight of stirred tao huay because it looks like vomit.

19. I would secretly curse at the automated toilet when it flushes before I finish my business. I would also secretly thank it when it flushes right after I'm done. (Okay I think this is really weird, don't judge me? Hahahaha.)

20. I used to spray water into my ears when I bathe. It feels soothing but I seldom do that now for fear I'll lose my hearing -.-

21. I have to clear everything on the table before I get down to work on something. That would take an hour or so until I'm satisfied enough to sit down and be productive.

22. I used to bathe with my glasses on when I was young.

23. When it comes to hotdog buns, I would finish off the bun before eating the hotdog.

24. I will only pick chopsticks of the same colour when I eat outside. The tips of the chopsticks have to face up cos I'm paranoid that the bottom of the chopsticks holder might be dirty. Same goes for other utensils.

24. I like to bite fishballs into cubes before finishing them off. Hahahaha.

25. I eat nuggets skin before consuming the naked nugget. I can't remember who did that first but it influenced me -.-

26. Whenever I see winter coats, I would snuck my hand into the sleeve to feel the coldness of the fabric. (I bet everyone loves doing this.)

27. I cannot spell thief. I always spell it as theif then correct it back to thief. All the time.

28. I hate ketchup but I have to have it when I'm eating Macdonald's scrambled eggs.

29. I recognize voice dubs in Hong Kong dramas. Because I don't understand cantonese, I watch them with chinese voice-over. Slowly, I can remember which voice artist did which characters before.

30. I will always pick sans-serif fonts over serif ones. For some reason, I really cannot stand Times New Roman. I have to change the font whenever I am working in Word before I even type anything.

Not much photos taken but I had a great time at the chalet!

These are some of the smartest and most down to earth creatures I've known. :) Most of us have been in the same class for 4 years straight and I am thankful for these brainy kids who've helped me in my school work. (For e.g. Letting me copy their math homework. HAHAHAHA.)

Hotel's breakfast buffet!

We decided to head down in our sleepwear cos we couldn't wake up early enough to prepare.

See it's only 9am!!! Who wakes up so early to eat breakfast?

Back to the hotel room to prepare to head out. Check out the mess (definitely not mine). You can see my stuff are already rolled up nicely in my luggage in the corner. We went to check out CN & Jessen's room which is like a total opposite of ours.

We're at Union Mall! It's really quite far from their town area (Pathon Yothin) but this shopping mall has nicer clothes albeit slightly more expensive and there's alot guys apparel!

Mall opens at 11, we reached at 10:30. Lol, and there were alot of people waiting outside the mall also! Not a touristy mall like Platinum, there were alot more Thai students hanging around here.

Having Swensen's because even though the mall is opened most of the shops aren't. HAHAHA.

WQ kept wanting us to have Swensen's in Bangkok cos he cannot help raving how cheap it was. And it really is.

Short break after finishing first few levels. That's when I was beginning to feel sick. Shitty headache and sore throat. Must be the lack of sleep and the late night suppers. Lol.

Lunch at Oishi Ramen which isn't oishi at all. One bad thing about Union Mall is they don't really have nice food there?

Cabbing back to hotel with too many bags of loot. See how cramped they were behind.

I don't even have enough space in the front seat. Lol.

Then off to MBK for dinner. Look at my very tired and sick face. :'(

Randomly chose a place for dinner at MBK which kinda sucked to me.

Didn't have enough time to do shopping in MBK (why must their malls close so early?!) so we head back after dinner. Went MBK the next day; wasn't quite suitable for us because that place is full of... urm other races. This is CN getting pissed because that guy is taking up his seating space. HAHA.

Only photo taken on Day 4. I was busy changing my leftover money buying whatever I laid my eyes upon and also because I had goldfish eyes from consuming the panadol the night before! Slight digress: Why am I getting eye rashes from panadols? I used to only get them from taking aspirins and now panadols!!!

27 Jun: Bangkok Day 2

Rainy morning, cab to Pratunam for breakfast!

Wanted to try the famous Kaiton chicken rice but suay enough, they were closed that day so we had their competitor's one.

The food was good but nothing to wow about.

Love their sauces.

They decided their breakfast wasn't enough and went to buy more food.

Jessen and I went to try this prata.

Super awesome (and oily). You know over here they fry the pratas, in Bangkok they deep-fry it. Hahaha. Even added condensed milk and sugar. Shiokness.

My mum's favourite. Handmade bean paste "fruits". Very cute but couldn't get it back to SG cos they'll go bad :(

CN is very hyped up about their elections. Even asked to take photos with their vehicles. Lol.

Only done shopping in the new wing of Platinum Mall and the guys wanted to take a break -_- I like the new wing because they sell mainly bags and shoes! Not exactly cheap though but I bought most of my bags and shoes there. Heh.

Hate this mac. They have no ventilation, making my hair smells like burger and fries when we got out.

While waiting for Jessen to finish buying his stuff, we were taking photos with the fire extinguisher.

My favourite waffles!!! They are pretty much everywhere in Bangkok. Rum and Raisin is the nicest!

Rings I bought from Platinum. Costs 150baht each which is like $6? You buy these kind of rings in FEP, they'd sell you at $39.90! Platinum is still the best place to shop in BKK to me. The clothes are insanely cheap. Don't have to think, just buy. :/

Lucky the guys are willing to help me carry my stuff despite them buying alot of clothes too. Lol.

Wanted to try Banana Beach at Centralworld and suay enough (x2) they closed down already -_-

Instead, we ate at MK Restaurant (which we were planning to have on Day 3).

After which we headed for massage. Wanted to go to Healthland Spa but somehow or rather, the taxi driver managed to convince us into go to his recommended one. The foot massage was good but it costs us 600 baht, WHICH IS LIKE WAY OVERPRICED. I highly suspect that this spa gives commission to taxi drivers who bring tourists there. I see alot of taxi drivers bringing in tourists after I'm done with my massage.

This is the place. NEVER EVER GO TO RANGNAM SPA & MASSAGE. If the taxi driver keeps saying it's the best massage place in Bangkok/he always come here for massage, very likely he will bring you here. No wonder that taxi driver still gave us discount off the fare la. Our carrot head all knna chop swee swee. Just went to google about this place and looks like they really scam tourists. :'(

Not entirely the biggest collection you'll see but these are my prized possessions.

So once in a blue moon, I'll take my babies out for some bathing and polishing. That is sheer hard work, it took me about 5-6 hours to finish cleaning every single one of them.

Spot some badly tarnished rings.

My double rings. Bought the bicycle one yesterday. Too cute. Favourite has got to be the spiky one, how attention-seeking! ;)

Geometric rings. Cheese ring is an oldie but goodie.

Bug rings. I managed to polish the butterfly and bee ring back to their original shiny state!

Animal rings, which I cannot get enough of.

Long rings. I think long ring only looks good when worn on the middle finger so they're abit hard to pair with :(

Bunny rings! Got the big ones from Bangkok. The left one is way too cute, the moment I saw it I knew I have to get it.

Antlers rings. Pretty sure the first one ain't antlers but I don't care. Hur. Antlers are so pretty! There was once I was signing a bill and the pen chain got caught in the antlers. How embarrassing. (My two very nice friends just stood there laughing the whole time.)

Birdie rings! Scored the left one yesterday. Beautiful!

These rings don't fit into any categories. Lol. Love the skull one and the greyish-green ring, although pretty much everyone commented that it looks like jade. >:(

More misc. rings! The MJ ones I got as presents along with other zhapalang ones.

26 Jun: Bangkok Day 1

Reached hotel, left our luggage and headed to Chatuchak Market.

Chatuchak Market is insanely humid. Even if I can stand the weather, I can't stand the horrible sewage stench. All along, I was looking for shops with air conditioning to go in. Lololol. Not much buys there because I was too sweaty to be in the mood for shopping. The guys did buy lots of clothes though. I probably wouldn't want to head there again the next time I go Bangkok.

This duck noodles which we randomly chanced upon is AWESOME. We were like... "Should we try? Okay let's buy one to try first." I took the first mouthful... and asked all of them to go get a bowl each. Haha! It is really that delicious!

Thirsty, we went to look for drinks but their drinks only made us thirstier. All of us feel like we gonna get diabetes from drinking those stuff. XH kept singing "为我点盏灯..." the moment he drank something too sweet (which is like throughout the trip).

We finally cannot take the heat and walking, decided to head back to the hotel for a bath.

Our hotel room! We stayed in iResidence hotel. Their lobby is pathetically small but their rooms are huge. Was quite peeved that they didn't put CN & Jessen's room next to ours though. Theirs were one floor below ours. Like what the hell right.

Today's menu: Italian food!

This is what we do probably once a month or so. We'd decide on a cuisine, head to NTUC to get the ingredients then have a cook-off at my house. We'll always make a mess in the kitchen, take too long to cook and hate the cleaning up. (I make them wash the dishes, clean and keep the plates, wipe the table and stove, mop the floor.) HAHA. I'm usually the IC for mopping though.

But eating our fruit of labour makes everything totally worth it!

These are some of my favourite moral dilemmas that got me thinking. So what would you do?

1. Your spouse is suffering from a debilitating disease that has put her in constant and permanent pain and agony. Finally, one day, she decides that she really wants to die. However, her condition is such that she cannot die on her own. She is begging and pleading with you to help her commit suicide. This would, of course, be illegal. What would you do?

2. There is a train that, much to your horror, is about to run over your own son, who has been tied to its track. It just so happens that you have only enough time to pull a lever which will send the train down an alternate track saving your son. However, you see that, tied to the other track, is your best friend, who recently saved your life and you have yet to repay him for doing so. What would you do?

3. You and your friend are stranded on an island. Unfortunately, you are both fatally ill. It just so happens that you have an antibiotic that can cure your illness. Sadly enough, there is just enough antibiotic to save only one person. How could you and your friend choose which one of you will take the antibiotic? Do you think that either person who takes it will, or should, feel guilty for the other person dying, although if neither of you take it, you will both die?

4. You are an inmate, imprisoned in a concentration camp. A guard tells you that you must choose one of your two children for him to take to the gas chamber. If you choose neither, he will take them both. What would you do? (A true story WWII story. Apparently, Sophie told him to take her younger daughter, she lost track of her older son, and she later committed suicide from the guilt of having chosen between her children).

5. You have a wonderful daughter. She is 8 years old and has always been a happy outgoing child. But a while ago something terrible happened, she was raped. You are quite sure that the person who raped her is your neighbor. Your daughter is so traumatized she has stopped speaking, but she in other ways been able to convince you that he is the one. Unfortunately not enough evidence can be found to convict him. You try to put your life back together. You move to another house and try to help your daughter in any way you can, but it is clear that the experience has ruined her life and that of your family. One evening you have taken your wife out to dinner at a restaurant when you spot your former neighbor at another table. He is eating alone and looks unhappy. You quickly finish eating and leave. The next day you find out that your former neighbor's wife has been murdered. Enough evidence to convict him of the murder is soon found, and at first you are very happy, finally his will get what he deserves.

But then you remember that you saw him in the restaurant at the time of the murder. you know he did not murder his wife. If you keep quiet he will be convicted for the murder, and the real murderer will go free. If you give him an alibi, he will go free, but you can’t be sure the real murderer will be found, and it is possible that the evil bastard paid someone to do it… What do you do?

6. A pregnant woman leading a group of people out of a cave on a coast is stuck in the mouth of that cave. In a short time high tide will be upon them, and unless she is unstuck, they will all be drowned except the woman, whose head is out of the cave. Fortunately, (or unfortunately,) someone has with him a stick of dynamite. There seems no way to get the pregnant woman loose without using the dynamite which will inevitably kill her; but if they do not use it everyone will drown. What should they do?

7. One morning you are driving to work, and as per usual you are running a bit late, so you are driving a touch faster than the speed limit. You reach down to your stereo to change the CD, when all of a sudden your car hits something solid. You spin to a stop, but not before several more cars have run into you and each other in an attempt to avoid the accident. As you look up and out of your car, you can see that you hit a person, and that the person is not looking very good. In fact, you are sure that he is dead. You shakily get out of your car, and look around at the damage that has been caused. Several cars have been badly smashed up, but more importantly you have killed someone with your careless driving. As you are standing there in shock, a woman comes up to you, tears running down her face, and obviously very shook up. As a natural reaction, you ask her what is wrong. She gives you a funny look, and then she explains that she just ran over someone. You ask her where this person is, and she points towards the person that you ran over! You don’t understand why, but for some reason this woman thinks that she caused this accident and killed the person, when in fact you are well aware that you were the cause. Whoever accepts the blame is likely to be placed in jail for a very long time. If you let the woman take the blame, there is a very good chance you will get away with it all. However, there is also the chance that you could be placed in jail for even longer for trying to cover it up. What would you do?

8. You are on holiday in Bali with your 18 year old son and wife. You have been there for a week and are ready to head home. All three of you are at the airport getting ready to board your plane, when an armed officer comes around with a sniffer dog. You have all your bags on a trolley, and the dog sniffs at both your wife and your bag, and passes over it, however when he gets to your sons bag, he begins to get a bit more active. You look over at your son and he’s looking a little nervous. You know he’s smoked a little marijuana in his time, but generally, he’s a good kid, and you certainly didn’t think he’d actually be stupid enough to bring it back on the plane with him. At first you feel angry that he would do such a thing and start planning your responsibility lecture, but then you realize that you are in Bali, and they have a zero tolerance policy on drugs, meaning your son could be jailed for life, or worse, executed, if he does have some illicit materials in his bag. You look at your wife and realize she has come to the same conclusion and has gone pale with fear. The armed officer accompanying the dog is beginning to look more stern with every sniff the dog takes and looks directly at you and asks you to open to the bag. You do, and as the officer begins to take things out of the bag, you see to your horror that there is a small quantity of marijuana stashed in with your sons belongings. The officer looks at you and asks “Who’s bag is this?”

You realize you have to answer, but the answer won’t be easy. You see your wife in the corner of your eye, and she is about to step forward and claim it as her own; what would you say?

9. You are an inmate in a concentration camp. A sadistic guard is about to hang your son who tried to escape and wants you to pull the chair from underneath him. He says that if you don’t he will not only kill your son but some other innocent inmate as well. You don’t have any doubt that he means what he says. What would you do?

10. You have two mutual friends who are dating. They are both very close to you, and you knew them separately before they even knew each other. You find out that he cheated on her. It was a one night stand, and he has not talked to the girl since it actually happened. He has been faithful excluding that one time. Also, it’s been a few months since it happened. You know that your friend is the type of girl that would stay with him; she would forgive him if it was only once. Do you support his decision not to tell her, because it won’t happen again and it will only cause her unnecessary hurt? Do you keep your mouth shut because it is none of your business and you want to stay out of it? Do you want him to tell her what happened, because she deserves to know the truth? What would you do?

Korean BBQ Buffet. We went there at 7:30pm and ate at 9:30pm. 2 hours wait!!! That is totally over my patience limit and surprisingly all of us waited. We only had an hour to eat and we really stuffed ourselves silly. They don't have a huge variety of meat to choose from but they were SOOOOOOOOOOO flavourful. It was really worth it too. $22 per pax on a friday! Note to self: No more crappy Seoul Garden next time & remember to go to that place early so we don't have to wait.

This is only the beginning. Jessen took so much bacon I want to puke. I think all of us ate a pig each. Hahahaha.

Went on a mini sailing trip with my school mates! We were asked to design Singapore's clipper yacht for the clipper boat race. :) We were totally sold to owning a yacht. It's so atas and fun. Hahahaha.

Dragged the guys to NEX cos I haven't been there before. That place sure is a food paradise. I see food stalls on every single level.

So we decided on Grandma's. It was Nonya food if I remember correctly. (Still cannot get enough of Malacca food. Lol.)

I love my curls! Okay la, this photo wasn't taken on that day. Just wanted to put it up. Hehe. Wanted to perm my hair but my mum says it will look too matured. :(

Food so-so only and it was pretty expensive for that amount of food. And the manager or something kept asking us if the food was nice, etc. 2-3 times! Annoying.

I love Malacca! Although many people say there is not much to do there, I don't agree! Go there eat eat eat and buy buy buy. The place is really small so going there for 3 days means going to the same places repeatedly. Lol. Best places for shopping: Pahlawan Megamall and Jonker Street. :)

On Konsortium coach to Malacca. There were very few people in the coach (around 10 exlcuding us?) and we were being really rowdy singing songs and laughing all the way at the back. People must have hated us. Hahahaha.

My act cute blanket I bought for this trip. Hehe.

We shifted to the back because nobody was sitting there. Just nice for the 4 of us!

Finally reached Holiday Inn Hotel! Our bladder almost burst cos we didn't want to use public toilets.

Sea view! Nothing much to see also. But that long building there is called THE JETTY, which consists of a long stretch of club, pubs and KTV. Very happening at night. Lol.

The hotel lobby, while waiting for the shuttle bus. We only realised on Day 2 that it's faster to walk than to take the shuttle bus. -_-

Not to mention, it is super crammed.

Our first drink: Coconut juice! The owner only provided us with one metal spoon so we had to take turns to eat the flesh. When we returned him the spoon, he just left it there in a cup of water!!!! OMGWTFBBQABCDEF4. Never wash one!!! Have many people's saliva have I eaten!!!

Jonker 88 dessert! If I can eat there for 3 days, I will. We went there for 2 days to eat their famous cendol!

Cendol and a whole glob of sago, drizzled with GULA MELAKA. (which is like my favourite thing in Malacca!!!)

Then to Capitol Satay for dinner after shopping at Jonker Street. We were super kiasu cos I read online that if you arrive after 5pm, you will have to queue for like an hour just to eat. (And we don't want to eat recycled satay sauce.) So we went there at 4.30pm, sat at the coffee shop opposite to wait for it to open. The very kind coffee shop owner informed us the moment they open their doors. (And I don't know how she knows we wanted to eat there, abit paiseh cos we only bought drinks to wait.)

Glum face cos he has sore throat throughout the trip and we kept eating all the unhealthy stuff. HAHAHA. Poor XH had to dip his food in the satay sauce then dip in again in a cup of water before he can eat it.

Waiting for the workers to put in the peanut sauce and something else I don't know.

The food we took. They will provide abalone and tiger prawns also! And it's super cheap. I think it's 0.80RM per stick? I think each of us only paid around 10-12SGD. But I didn't really like the peanut sauce though. The ingredients were gooood.

Welcome dessert from Holiday Inn. We initially thought those cookies were nuggets. HAHAHAA LOOK LIKE RIGHT!

I think I was shitting in the toilet when they took this photo. After I shat, I warned them not to go in cos very smelly. After awhile I think XH went in to pee and exclaimed, "WAHLAO HAI HEN CHOU LEH." Hahahahaha WTF who pang sai HEN XIANG one. The other two idiots took turns to go in and smell how bad is it. I think they are abit sick. I had to spray my perfume to mask the smelliness. Hehe.

The guys shared a BK meal and complained about onion rings being cold and burger not looking like those in their ads. -_- (How big is our appetite?!)

The cakes from Nadeje. Introduced by my small aunt. IT IS REALLY GOOD. Please go try it. The cake is made from layers of crepe with the flavour slathered between them. We had Chocolate, Original and Gula Melaka. Gula Melaka is my favourite followed by the Original, which has a pretty strong liquor taste?

Then off to THE JETTY to sing karaoke! (Again, very cheap!!! Cannot remember how much cos XH paid for it!~) Downside: Very very strong aircon to musk the smoke smell and it's quite difficult to select songs!

Went back after this, bathed and totally zonked out for the night~

As usual, setting up the fire took an hour and we always don't have enough fire starters (we bought 40) and charcoal because the guys use ALOT.

Homemade Soymilk

My new blender! So excited to try all its functions out. Yesterday, I've made my brother a banana smoothie and chopped some eggs for today's breakfast. No more manual chopping of onions and garlics! WOOHOO.

Today, I spent my whole morning making soymilk! The most tedious part is de-shelling the beans because I don't want the soymilk to have a beany taste.

Filtering the okara out. This step turned my whole kitchen in a mess...

After boiling the soymilk, this is my end product: Absolut Soymilk! Hehehe.

So gratifying to taste my homemade soymilk! I'm tempted to make soy beancurd next! Wee~

Recently, I've become quite cautious when returning home late.

So this is what I did for the past few times I came home late:

Look around at the void deck area, see if there's anyone. Usually, my block will have bangalas/ahnehs loitering around. Then, I'll step into the lift... and randomly press different floor buttons so they won't know which floor I stay in. HAHAHAHA. I really think all girls going back home alone should use this method. And of course, don't stupidly go with your floor button first.
